Replacement Window???

Featured Replies

Well....... Came out of the Ice Hockey match tonight to find some little scrote/scrotes have broken into the Furby. They've smashed the front passenger window and opened the glovebox and stolen........................ Booger all !!!!!!!!!!!! They've not touched owt else in the car at all. I assume as the alarm was going off they've panicked and run off.

Managed to find an 'emergency window phone number' from my insurance company and spoke to them, (Auto Glass i think). They've got all the details and it'll not affect my no claims etc..... Only thing is the on-call guy is already booked up all night tonight so the earliest they can sort it is Satyrday @ 4pm. So now the little scrotes have really annoyed me cos that means i've only got 1hr 15mins to get the window done then drive back home to drop the car off before heading to the pub to watch the Newcastle v Blades match.

At least i managed to find a helpful copper tonight...... Drove down the road from Sheffield Arena to the local copshop...... who's front desk was closed, but found a van full of coppers in the back yard. We spoke to them and told them what had happened and was just about to say 'i'll leave it till tomorrow' when a WPC said no worries and she took all the details and had a look at the damage there and then then radio'd through to the central police station in town and got them to leave a message on our home phone with the crime number. So at least that's one thing to not have to worry about tomorrow.

Oh well rant over..........

What i wanted to know was does the glass that gets fitted come from Skoda??? Will it just 3rd party glass or will it have the same markings etc.... as the original Skoda glass??? As i've never had to do owt like this before.

At least we won the hockey tonight:) Up The Steelers!!!!

Cheers

Dave.

sorry to hear of your troubles!

the skoda genuine glass made by splintex

autoglass normally use pilkington glass iirc, but they can get others on request.....

the important thing to do is whip the seats out ond thouroughly go round with the vacuum to get all the bits out otherwise the one time you jump in your car to move it without any shoes on you'll find that elusive missing piece... also there will be a lot of glass inside the door too, so seing as they would have to take the door trim off anyway, you may as well try to remove as much glass from inside the door as possible

had this done twice last year and the nice man from autoglass should hoover out the glass for you

Cheers for the info fellas......... I'm gonna have a hoover round the car before i set off to the AutoGlass place in town this afternoon. And then try and get there between 3 and 4 to see if they can get started on it early so i don't miss the match. Thankfully they didn't nick anything so it's just a glass/window claim so doesn't affect my no claims etc.....

Cheers

Dave.
