I was on a stag day visit to our local karting place last year - Raceland.

It was a similar affair - circa 24 racers on the outdoor track.

I had a great day, finished 3rd in the final - did make it up to 2nd at one point but made a mistake on a hairpin and got caught out.

On the previous race, I was going down the main straight 2 abreast and tried to go round the fastest corner on the track, around the outside! I ran out of tarmac, hit the tyres and launched the kart around 3 foot up in the air.

Managed to scramble to the finish with bent steering arms.

It was only later that night that my ribs started to ache (and this was with mucho beerage). Next day I had to go to A&E for an x-ray as I thought I had broken a rib - just badly bruised.

I did do a 59sec lap as well which by all accounts is not a bad pace on a rental kart.

outdoor tracks are allways good fun, especially in the wet!
