Hello all my mate has a 1 month old fabia vrs, it seems impossible to find a towbar in the uk. We was told today that even if one can be found and fitted his insurance would be invalid. One quote in N.E.Lincs was for

I don't believe the vRS is type-approved for a towbar in the UK, hence the problems with insurance..... :(

Have a search, it was covered in quite a bit of detail a year or so ago

We asked about this when we bought Sciencebird's VRS, (for a realy good bike rack I've got NOT a caravan!)

Apparently the Skoda one is dealer fit, doesn't require a bumper cut, is quick release (look at the polystyrene insert in the spare wheel, there is a pre formed hole to store the towbar in there when it is not in use)

BUT the downside - it's

ScoobyChris is correct about the VRS not being type approved for a tow bar , but people have fitted them , iirc someone posted up a couple of months ago about getting one fitted so a bike rack could be used , i would speak to the insurers and ask the question making sure you tell them that no towing will be done

My mate has fitted a Witter Swan Neck detachable tow bar to his vRS. Just bolts to the rear axle and no need for any cutting of the rear bumper. Also with it being detachable when it is removed you would never know a tow bar was there.

I have just removed my 2 month witter one with single electrics, its for sale if your interested

I dont even know how much towbars are worth, it weigh's a fair bit mind so postage will be a bit, i dont even know how much they are new

A Bosal swan neck one will also fit without cutting the bumper.
