how adaptive is the ECU

Featured Replies

how adaptive is the ECU on the octy VRS 1.8T since my last RR day my max torque has moved from 3800 rpm down to 2600 rpm and gone from 228 lb/ft up to 242 lb/ft bhp is down from 208bhp to 193bhp is it possible the ECU has shifted the torque down the rev range due to my driving style

It may not directly answer you question but here is how REVO describe ECU adaption -

11926.attach

It will adjust to your driving style and mods...generally takles about 4 weeks...but it depends how much you use the car

Whilst I don't doubt the ECU has some level of adaption, to think that it could reduce power and torque by any more than 1 or 2 bhp is just not realistic, imho. Think of the nightmare with insurance companies, disgruntled buyers etc if that was the case.

As Stu has posted, I thought the adaption was for different fuel types and the like? Hence why people with dragon boxs and the like might feel it adapt due to the engine permanantly thinking its being run at subzero temps and increasing the fueling to suit, over time? With a remap I wouldn't expect any difference.

It would be nice to know the official line on this.
