cigarette lighter

Featured Replies

This may be a daft question but is there a special way of getting the cigarette lighter to work by the handbrake?

Athough i don't smoke i would like to use it to charge my phone up.

All the fuses are present and not blown and the one in the boot works fine and i have checked to see if there is power going to in and there isn't.

iirc it shares the same fuse as the radio, also it only works when the ignition is switched on

Try the switch that allows people in the back to control the windows,on some cars the same switch turns off the cigarette lighter .IIRC

Does anyone know what the deal is with that? The handbook for my car ('02 Ambiente TDI) says that the socket won't get power if the child lock's on, but I'm pretty sure that I tried it ages ago and it seemed to be powered all the time, whatever state the switch was in...

I've got a fabia, and it appears the cigarette lighter is always on.... is there anyway to disable this? or is it hard wired.

As i'd feel happyer if when i take the key out the power is off so no chance of flattening the battery if i ever forget

I encountered the same problem at first someone on here guided me. This is a safety function. If you have someone who may play around with the windows, they may stick their fingers in the socket. Hence the cut power when the windows are deactivated.
