ECU Swap, whats the procedure?

Featured Replies

i'm trying to do an ecu swap on a Fabia 100PD, i have both ecu's and both key tags with the 4 digit codes. Looked on Ross Tech website but only lists using 7 digit SKU's.

I know it can be doen but can anyone enlighten me as to the correct rpocedure to get the old ecu to work in the new car?

Alex

Alex as far as I know it is the same procedure but Skuds only used the 4 digit SKC. I know Bas has succesfully done it with two Fabia RS ECU's and I think Jason may have done it too.

IIRC - log in with a 0 before the code for newly installed ECU, then use the 4 digit code of the removed ECU without the 0 to adapt it.

In which areas of Vag Com are we talking about?

Alex

Check my instrument cluster swap guide, the procedure for using the 4 digit SKC is in there.

HELP

Can't get it to work. Got the codes, even had them checked by my dealer!

Plug the 'new' ecu into the car, immobilizer light flashes and cannot log into it.

What is the exact procedure? Been following the Ross Tech guide but using the 4 digit code with a 0 in front of it. VAGCOM tells me i need to switch off the car for 2-3minutes before trying again.

What am i doing wrong?

Alex

First of all Alex - take a deep breath. You can do it easily. I stored a note on how on my work PC. Unfortunately SWMBO ditched the paper copy I had here at home!

I think it may be a double '0' or no '0' at all in front of the initial logon then the opposite on the second logon. I fiddled for a frustrating half an hour before I suceeded.

Open a beer, try different combos of prefix '0', '00' and none. It will kick you out until you suceed. When you get it right, celebrate and post it up here.

If the max is 5 digits, surely it can only be 1 zero or no zero, tried both of these combos. Could it be anything else? Also, this is inputted in the main vagcom screen not in the 'use SKZ code' box where you need dates and dealer codes etc

IIRC - you do input them in the 'use skz code' - no dealer code or date need be inputted. Leave them blank.

IIRC, what you do is:

[select]

[01 - Engine]

[Login - 11]

[use 7-digit PIN/SKC]

Enter the 5-digit PIN from ECU #2,

[OK]

[Do-It!]

[Adaptation - 10]

Enter 50 in Channel Number

[Read]

[use 7-digit PIN/SKC]

Enter the 4-digit PIN from ECU#1,

[OK]

[Test]

[save]

[Done, Go Back]

If you can hold on for a day, I'll send you the procedure as I have it saved at work. I did this a few months ago...
