Searching around there seems to be a few sites. So far, http://www.premodded.com/catalog/ seems to offer slightly lower prices. The thread Colin mentioned had a few mentions of stuff bought from there with no problems.

Awaiting reply from a quick email I sent them with some questions and if I get the replies I want (i.e. macrovision disabled on DVD playback...) I might well go for the chip, apps and upgrade to 120gb HD :D :D :D

To mod or not to mod..........That is the question! I too have been considering it, but not sure whether to go through with it or not.

Fergal[/quote']Two main reasons:

1) If you have a larger hard drive installed, you can copy your games onto it and play them from there. Faster access and no more swapping disks - also helpful if you "lose" the original...

2) Xbox Media Player will play back divX, mpeg, avi, mp3s, etc, etc across a network - handy for many as xboxes tend to be close to the main TV, whilst PCs are in another room. I could stream my mp3 collection to my amplifier this way, or watch any films (in surround) I may download in the future...

And if you get the right chip, you can get utilities that let you copy Xbox games, and write DVD's in the special format that Xbox uses. Most of the Xbox fiends around here use the one linked below, with Evo-X software.

Also, there's a lot of Xbox games available for download on bittorrent.

Not that I'd advocate copying copyrighted software, obviously.....

TRUE CRIME IS ACE

maybe you could install it in your car and then you'd have a mediacenter in your car

your co-rider could watch dvd's (on long trips) or game a little :)
