Avon ZZ3

Just got a pair of these on the front (as my tyre place gave me a nice price of

Got them on my Octavia vRS. Good in the wet due to the sipe design but only

lasted me 10K. Must have been happy with them to have replaced with same.

I'm on with this tyre malarkey again - if you fit them on standard rims does it count as a mod - do you need to tell insurance company?

Avons are always very good grip but have low life expectancy.

Dunlops tend to be similar.

Yep - as above, had these on my Focus and got 8k out of them IIRC :D

Couldn't fault them for grip in both wet and dry, weren't too noisy but the wear could have been better...

Would be interested to see how you get on with these. Update this thread again when you swap for the next pair :)

I fancy a set of ZZR's for the summer!

as the size is larger than standard the simple answer is yes tell the insurance

the only other thing you have to worry about re the insurance is whether the tyres are the correct speed rating for your vehicle i.e. 205/45WR16 if its a Fabia VRS otherwise they may null your insurance if the tyre rating is below the manufacturers spec , i would imagine if its beyond the spec i.e. ZR you would be OK

Do you mean ZZR's as they are made by Kawasaki?

I had a pair of them until I sold the ZZR1100 a few months ago.

Still got the ZZR1200

well, so far, I have only yet to drive in wet weather, I've run them in over a few hundred miles, and started to push them, and in these conditions they are gripping better than the nero's did (to be fair they were down to about 1.8 mill tho...) biggest difference (as someone else metioned) is great resistance to aquaplaning, we have some seriously flooded roads around here at the moment, and they are a big improvement so far, I haven't managed to find the limits yet, so I well pleased... turn in seems a little better to... just seems more pointy at the front end which is nice:thumbup: (pardon my technical descriptions!).... will update again, when I get to push them a little more, and when I get to try dry weather...

note: my car was pulling to the left with the nero's on, it now tracks in a straight line... hhmmmmmm

Hmm. I'm not a fan of ZZ3s. The combination of my tw@tful driving and those tyres on the rear cost me my Fabia.

But on second thoughts, that was in the wet on a coldish winter night. So maybe they're very good as summer tyres, but wet + cold = :thumbdwn: AFAI'm concerned.

Have to agree with Xav; and i fit the things.......... their pants in my opinion and are nowhere near as good as F1`s or Nero`s, only better than the earlier zz1`s because they dont seem to lose shape, goood budget tyre though :P

one of the reviews I read said they don't work well below 5 celcuis..... It has yet to get that cold since I've put them on...... will report if we ever get any winter this year

I am a big fan of the p'nero's , but couldn't get any,(was running them before) and was offered these cheap..... they are honestly better so far, but I am compairing them in the rain to p'nero's that were on about 1.8 mill... hhmmmm... waits for a dry day :D
