4x4 rear diff replacement

Featured Replies

Hi

I have 51 Oct 4x4 estate, 61k miles, FSH etc, rear diff bearing noise, need exchange unit, skoda garage quoted

did you buy it from a skoda dealer and if so how long ago?

yes, see my post about Marlborough and the warranty they sold me. Warranty wont cover it as fault deemed there when I bought it, dealer say nothing wrong with car. I live 500 miles away, have zero faith in dealer so question driving there and creating a stink, small claims a waste of time as financial limit to any claim. Been down that route already I'm afraid. But just to add in again - shower of b*!**ds that they are.

I feel for you there mate, shower of B**!**ds.

Can't wait to hear on the news about the bad fire there!

any 4x4 owners out there know of any sources I could try?

thanks for the suggestion, tried them and they replied no 4x4 parts available

Surely you have 1 year warrenty and if they sold it as skoda approved then the thing should be covered.

Sounds like shocking behaviour from the dealer.

Ask for a breakdown of costs on that repair as i would be a lot of it is labour.

If that is the case then a local independant could half that bill.

final call, any 4x4 owners out there who can help me with some suggestions? Remember, this may happen to you......

i don't think your gonna hear a lot tbh mate as your the first i think that has ever had such a problem so more than likely down to a faulty part rather than wear and tear as some of the other 4x4's have seen a hard life.

I have a spare diff but it got left in a shed for a few months and seems to have corroded so I was just planning on scrapping it.

BTW the diff from a TT, S3, Golf V6 etc.. will also fit AFAIK.

If you are scrapping it can it be rebuilt, that would give surely a much cheaper option !

Do a search with people like

TT might be a better option if it fits as Eddie said, there are likely to be more of those in the scrappies.

I had a Gearbox getting noisier & noisier on an Impreza, the garage put an additive into the box to quieten it down a bit, took about 300 miles to it quietened down completely, that was a few years ago & unfortunately I cant remember what it was called

If the OP wants it he can have it FOC, it's already in a shipping crate so would just need to send a courier to collect it.
