Falken ZE 512 - anyone used them? Any good?

Yep, I had a pair.

They were quite poor imho, infact they were so bad that when I got a puncture in one at just 1mm worn, I thew its pair away too!

TBH if you put them on the back, they are just fine. Just don't expect the world from them.

For the money they are not too bad, i found them to wear fast and grip enough in the dry, a little unpredictable in the wet.

Also IIRC, you can drive "like a king" with falkens on

Pretty good actually, for the money that is. Had some on a Citroen Zsara VTR once, they were great on there, but not so great on my Pug 306 Estate. Odd, but not bad.

Xsara and 306 have different weights and wheel offsets; also probably different spring, damper and ARB rates I think.

Xsara and 306 are same platform, and virtually same car underneath it all all said and done. Either way, our 306 coped well on anything including michelin energy

Sorry mate, wasn't disagreeing with what you said, just stating the similarity in the cars. Our 306 was a TDerv too and have to say i miss it.

Mine was Allard "supertuned". Went well. liked it.

Yep ours may have been fettled with, I just miss the handling, was an awsome car, and the boy racer appeal shows how well they do handle as stock.

Actually, I'm a fan of Falken but that particular model sucks. The best were the ST115s.

Shifty and Cheezemonkai, I was talking about ex-works standard cars. FWIW I've driven ZXs with TU14 and XUD19 fairly extensively, and can report that the diesel understeers more, almost certainly due to the heavier engine and gearbox.
