Fabia TDI fuel

Featured Replies

I have looked through the posting and was unable to find one on running TDI's on veg oil or the like,so has anyone tied it or runs it all the time?

Any information will be of use to me.

BryanD runs on Biofuel iirc , i think there are a few other as well , i think the blend is 95% diesel 5% veg oil

Veg oil is only recommended for much older basic diesels. I wouldn't advise it on a modern tdi.

A small percentage of bio-diesel may be ok though Skoda don't recommend it.

Thought up to 5% was ok on the furball as long as you changed the fuel filter twice as often.

ALL Vag diesels, even new Euro IV ones, are OK to run on 5% biodiesel. They have to be - that's what comes out of the pumps in France whether you ask for it or not.

I run mine on 10% RME biodiesel and find it's quieter, smoother and less smoky for the same performance. Decron successfully runs much higher proportions of biodiesel in his vRS. Pre-2006 Euro III vRSes can run on up to 100% RME biodiesel without affecting warranty. Cars made since June 2006 are capped at 5% bio.

Biodiesel flushes the cr@p out of the fuel system, so the fuel filter needs draining at 10K miles and changing every 20K miles. Otherwise, no mods to the car.

There have been postings from folk who say they run on straight vegetable oil, but I would never do this, so I can't comment on the effects.
