Help!! Brakes.....

Featured Replies

Right,

Its been a while since I posted but I really need some help. I have just changed my pads and discs at the front for ATE replacements. After bleeding the system the pedal now feels a little spongy and it sounds like air is being expelled when I press the pedal down.....I bled all the corners in the usual order and even bled the master cylinder primary and secondary circuits too so I am stumped if its air....I have driven the car and the brakes are no where near as sharp as before.

Help!! Is it air or something more sinister??

Oh yeh, just put Eagle F1s all round at

Hi there not much help but did same last week but on rear bleed brakes traditional way ie pressing brake peddle down and opening nippel, NOT the way to do it,the seals in master cylinder flip over, my car now is sat in dealer waiting for a new one at £200.

Well I have bitten the bullet and taken it to the Dealer, well Camberley Service Centre, and they gave it the once over and told me there is nothing wrong with it...apparently the fluid was a little low but apart from that everything was fine!!

So....what now, am I happy with that diagnosis? I guess I have to be really, just things don't seem quite right, I am going to find an empty road tonight and "test" them to their limits....

Watch this space....

The pads and discs might need "bedding in".... just a thought.

Yeh, it was more the pedal travel and the air expelling from the pedal that concerned me....they are improving as I approach 400 miles done since the change....

I guess I just get nervous when it comes to brakes.....I have bled and changed so many on Mk1 Golfs, this is my first ABS equipped car hence the post swap out blues....
