under-bonnet soundproofing

Featured Replies

Anyone know if it's possible to buy the sound proofing liner that can can see fitted to a VRS, or to have it retro-fitted?

A visit to the parts dept of your local Skoda dealer should be all that's needed to secure...

When I removed the liner from my bonnet I threw it away!

Hmm didnt know the non-vRS ones didn't have it ?

I got additional sound proofing on mine - search for soundkiller on the internet, that's where I got mine from.

Also you can buy a PDxxx under-engine-cover foam sound absorber. Got that too :)

My non-vRS one did and I'm pretty sure all the courtesy cars I've had have all had engine covers.....

Think WW is referring to the bonnet lining padding. I thought all Fabias had them too.

SWMBO's MPI-engined one doesn't... Think it might only be fitted to diesels...

That could well be the case - makes logical sense. I've never had the incentive to peep under the bonnet of a petrol fabia. ;) :P

Ditto - not been at inlaws for a while, they have a 1.2 petrol Fabia now so worth a check I suppose.

:D

VRS is far quieter that the next PD diesel down the range. I was VERY impressed with how quiet the VRS is when I drove the two back to back (and the same against a POLO PD I drove half an hour later) but I didn't take any notice at the time of what apparent differences there were - there is clearly something very significant about VRS soundproofing thats different to the other diesels though.

Does anybody know what additional soundprofing the VRS has over a PD100?

I could do with it on my TDI 100

Personally I didnt think there was any more, but as said you can buy some from SEAT that mutes the clatter a fair bit. I've also got soundkiller soundproofing fitted under the carpets inside the car, boot has also been done, which worked out well now I've got the donut tank in for the LPG ;)

Worth remembering that this may well increase the underbonnet heat problem a little, so pikey mods may be useful :D

I have a petrol 1.4 16v comfort and that has the bonnet lining sound proofing gizmo dodah on there! :P

I've got a 1.4 16v Elegance courtesy car sat outside right now, spose I could take a look in the morning.
