I Smell Dead People, All The Time....Well nearly.

Featured Replies

Help,

My Air conditioning smells like a grave yard. A little bit unpleasant and a little bit musty. mmm nice.

I went to Birmingham on Sunday and after the torrential rain had to turn my air con on to demist and WOW the air con was turned back off sharpish.

Has anyone come across anything to help cure this?

sprays are available at Halfords to clean out the aircon system , smell is caused by bacteria in the heater box from the condensation left in there since you last used it

Turn it on more often especially in winter, as previously said bacteria builds up in the vents and pongs like hell when you come to use.....also it is good practise to circulate the system which will help in the long term.

Try the guys down at Lake, it's a tuning place in the industrial site on the mini roundabout opposite Morrisons. I was well impressed by the bloke who sorted Mr P's aircon out. I got a 'how to take care of your aircon system' leaflet while I was there. I think they've got a rolling road too

I once heard an appalling story of blocked guttering on a firestation - they thought perhaps a dead seagull was blocking the drainpipe, when they went up to look, they found a human leg blocking the pipe. apparently a man had been killed in an rta outside the station some weeks before and his leg was missing, torn off in the accident.

Have you had an accident lately? Have a look under your bonnet just in case !

God in pelted it down in brum sunday though!

I think VAG used to say to run the air con once a month at full pelt for a couple of minutes, to avoid the mildewy smell.

Safe n Sound ?

Carnessouir ?

Deffo not safe n sound, it's on the left in the little units and has lots of boy racer type mods in it's little shop front :)

Or just leave it turned on all the time as it doesn't affect the temperature of the air and will mean that the car doesn't mist up

Chris

Oh yeah, and my leaflet says run it once a week all year :)

Yep leave it on all of the time. I left the A/C permenantly on in my old 406 and in do in the VRS. The difference in economy is minimal (especially if you take into account the cost of repairing a 'hardly used' A/C system!).

If they have a rolling road and can do tuning, then yes :)

Sorry...yes it is Carnoisseur
