VRS tailgate rattle

Featured Replies

Early this year driving through Hull my rear wash blew off inside the tailgate. I was just passing the Dealer so popped in and they fixed it there and then.:)

Since though I have a rattle coming from the tailgate area so took it to Chapmans of Pickering on Monday, who gave me the car back saying it was fixed. But it wasnt.

So they had it all morning this morning, renewed all the metal clips, returned the car and........Its still there!!:thumbdwn:

Anyone else had this? its very noticable around 60mph and above, not at all below this speed and sounds a little like tiny stones flicking around the wheel arches.

I am reluctant to go back.:(

Its not the rattle when it's not been shut hard enough, and it's on it's halfway house catch? I used to get that until I learned how to close my boot tight shut.

i've had a rattle from behind the tailgate trim for ages , haven't been bothered to do anything about it yet , i know the tailgate trim is a pain to get off especially in colder weather as the trim is so much stiffer you think its going to break before the clips release

Its shutting fine. Its since it was first taken apart to access the rear wash pipe.

Thats why I took it to the dealer, as its under warranty and Knowing my luck I would Knack it!!

They never put it back together properly the first time. I clicked it back when I got home!!

hence the reason why I dont fancy going again.

I've had this from new. I cured it by packing the gap where the plastic trim meets the rear window glass (around the area of where the rear wiper sits). A piece of black synthetic cork from a wine bottle cut into a wedge does the trick.
