Power Steering Sensor

Featured Replies

Hi,

I bought my Fabia 1.4 8v MPi about 2 weeks ago. The power steering failed about 4 times and the light came on so I took it back to the garage where I bought it and they replaced the sensor for me. I got the car back yesterday, but now the steering feels very heavy, and only seems to work slightly at very slow speeds like when reversing. Even then it works nowhere near enough. My question is after the sensor has been replaced, do I need to give it time to "wear in" or do I need to take it back to the garage again? Thanks.

The amount of power assistence you get from the steering can be adjusted on a Fabia, and the level of assistance can be set with the Vag-Com diagnostic tool. I'm not sure whether replacing the sensor will have upset the previously stored assistence level but if it has, the remedy is straightforward.
