leather

Featured Replies

i have just about had enough of trying to keep the silly little mesh inserts clean and plus the fact that the stitching has come apart at the front where the mesh joins the leather.at the moment i am unsure of whether to go back to skoda and try and get them to repair the seat under warranty as i have only had it 6 months and done 4k in it and it was bought with a years warranty although i expect they will try and fob me off with the not covered because it is just wear and tear line.

either that or just try and get the mesh changed to leather and not have to worry about it anymore.

what do people think i should do and does anyone know what sort of price i would be looking at for the leather and a trimmer in the south west would be very handy if anyone knows of any good cheap ones.

I'd first try to get it fixed under warranty before I'd shell out £££ for a retrim.

I agree, try a warrenty repair before you shell out.

Likewise. It wouldn't be the first time that a sewing machine op hadn't picked up as much of the material edge as they should have. Presuming you mean you've had the car 6 months from new, it's not "fair wear and tear".

If you are near Bath, then these guys may be worth a call...

I haven't used them personally, but I have heard good things. :)

no not 6 months from new,6 months from when i bought it from a main dealer with a years warranty, the car is a 52 plate with 54k on the clock but still nowhere near what i would call old or used enough to have the seat falling apart on:thumbdwn:

That's trickier in terms of stated or implied warranty. What I can say is that I've no trim issues on a car same age on 68kmiles but with cloth rather than leather.

My mesh inserts have done exactly the same, I keep using Groom Interior cleaner on them but they get dirty very quickly....is there a better product or method to clean the inserts?? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Olly

Just read the other thread VRSian - they've done a great job of your interior. I'm quite happy with the mesh at the moment (only had the car a week) but I'm thinking of having it done now anyway, it looks great. My Octy's red too...

Thanks nbr_uk, the only thing to bear in mind is that if you go for the red leather like mine, your carpet might make it look a bit odd.

That's why I decided to swap the carpet for a black one from an L+K.

The cheaper way would be to have either black or grey leather, then the carpet would look ok.

I was just thinking that today. I think the red leather really looks good with the paintwork though - bit like the red Golf GTI Colour Concept from a few years back. Good idea changing the carpet to match.

I tried to get a second hand carpet but found it impossible. Ended up buying a new one for

I was in the same situation as yourself and decided to get the cloth inserts in the seats and door cards replaced with a silver/grey leather so from a glance the look like standard but up close you can see its leather:thumbup:
