Lost my tax disk

Featured Replies

Does anyone know the process of getting another one?

I can't belive I have lost it, and what is worrying is I can't remember the last time I saw it on my windscreen, it could have easily been a month ago. I have one of those ones in a metal disk that Tom_vrs gave to me after a meet as he was getting rid of his vRS, but I could never get the thing to stay on the windscreen and it kept flying off and hitting me in the head if I came off a roundabout too fast.

Now it seems to have gone, for good.

Oh yeah, any ideas why I have not got done for not having one? In that time I have been to Reading and London a bit. If it is all done electronically do you think I can leave it until it expires (March)

Thanks

I wouldn't leave it, because if it is noticed then you'll get done for it.

I imagine you just have to go and buy a new one? Unless they check to see if you are valid on this computer thing of theres and give you a new one....but I doubt it, they'll want the money!

You only get done electronically if your disc has expired and you havent renewed...

beware the police will quite easily notice something like that... when i was 18 i got done because a copper i passed (going the other way) noticed i had one of those little parking tickets (bit bigger than postage stamp) obscuring my taxdisc... they turned round, caught me up and *******ed me for it... then busted me coz it was a week out of date

not sure how it is now, because the police can check with central if its actually taxed or not.. but expect a producer if you get pulled over

What are you like?

Only you could lose a tax disc. I take it you've definatly looked all aroung the car.

Having a good search for it in the pigsty that is Em's car would take three weeks:rofl:

She would be better of spending

There are all these nooks and crannies in my car that it could have slipped into. I was looking under the seat and found loads of stuff that doesn't belong to me . Considering I park in the same place as the police you would think someone had seen it.

Admittidly the car is a bit of a compost heap at the moment, but I am sure I would have found it by now.

Will have another search at lunch time in the light.

Here's a tip Emily...

When the sh!t gets up to window level, tidy your car out, otherwise your vision will be obscured:rofl:

under seat air vents is a possibility.

IIRC, any tax checking camera uses your registration to check on the central computer whether your car is taxed. Failing to display a valid tax disc is in itself an offence though, so best get it sorted ASAP :D

Oh, and get a decent tax disc holder too ;)

Chris

Mine went missing when I had my windscreen replaced (I took it out of the holder and everything - it still went!) DVLA sent me my replacement virtually by return post - I was quite impressed with the efficiency! :)

Oh, and get a decent tax disc holder too ;)

yeah masking tape or some other adhesive tape product will work:D

Could Princess have chewed through it?

Sorry, I'm not helping here am I? :o

Not without breaking her teeth!

It is like a disscus (that heavy olympic frisbe thing, however it is spelt) when it shoots off the dash - might be in the boot?

Look yourself up on the above link - this is what the cops use to check if your are taxed - and apply for new disc soonest - as already said its an offence not to display one !

I bet its somewhere really obvious and you just haven't noticed haha! Like stuck to the end of your gear stick!

I'm still trying to deal with the image of EE being attacked by her tax disc holder!
