Mk 1 Octavia 4x4 L&K

Featured Replies

Hi guys and girls!

I've just been offered a 2001 Mk 1 Octavia 4x4 L&K 64,000kms, Black with creme leather and the usual spec, which the owner claims has been boosted to 240bhp with a german chip.

It was about 150bhp something standard.

I've got two questions:

1) could this bhp be possible from a chip?

2) what should i look out for before I buy?

Thanks in advance.

Swear octy MK1 4X4 was Elegance not L&K

They mention KM rather than Miles so I'm guessing it's on the continent rather than in the UK.

As for 240bhp from just a chip/remap , no that sounds unlikely.

The later 1.8T 4*4s would remap to between 220 and 230bhp

Good point :o

I could be wrong about the year, but its def an L & K. Location is Malta.

It does have a 4x4 badge, but haven't looked underneath or driven yet.

I'll keep you all updated.

Any tips on what to check for?

What is the difference between the earlier 18T's and the later ones/

Is the just the chip or more?

That's what I wanna know ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Doc ,, where are you.

I hope we're not wasting space here with Mk1 & 2's!

I think one of our members discovered that the very early - ie pre 2002 - 4X4s had a different turbo to that fitted since.

So were talking DriveByWire capable of upto 230 are we?

Cable control, somewhat less? still

The 2000 4X4 shared the same turbo as the AGU (original cable throttle 1.8T). In 2001 the 4X4's turbo was changed to that also fitted to vRS (AUQ) and AUM (VVT DBW FWD) and the throttle control unit also changed. The AGU continued with the original turbo and throttle control unit. So the original 4X4s are different to a degree.

Don't quite understand what your saying here

For the benefit of JJF (and myself), is it a possible to obtain 240bhp on a 4x4 with the later FBW fitted?
