Fabia vRS orig alloys cost ?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Anyone know how much a Fabia vRS (original) alloy wheel costs ?

Am thinking of getting one, tyreing it up and keeping it in the garage - yes, had two punctures in one night before now + if you just get the one spare wheel & tyre then you're always on tenterhooks as to whether you'll get another (sods law the puncture is on a Saturday, late, and few places are open Sundays).

Aside -

Only driven 300 miles in vRS (got it last week) but am so so impressed.

Everything - understated looks (admiring glances, questions from other motorists), colour (silver for cleaner-longer look), performance + that nice grumbly sound at lower revs (I like engine feedback) + peed off look from tailgaters, feeling of solidity, ride comfort, interior room (mate with Jag X-type reckons it has more combined legroom, and he was mightily impressed with the rest too). I could, like most, go on and on.

Xtra bonus - with it being over a foor shorter (than previous Cavalier), yet only sacrificing in boot space, I can walk around the back of the car when it is in the garage (used to have to clamber over bumper and tins/ tubs in garage before if I wanted to get to the tools hung on the far wall. In fact, I dried it off in the garage the other night and then applied Halfords Rain Repellant to all but the last unreachable 6 inches of the glass area.

Grumbles -

Driver's seat belt (on the seat settings myself and my wife use) is awkward to clip in - too close to side bolster.

Noisy original tyres (Michelin).

Still finding it mega difficult to judge distance from rear on parking - tend to be leaving 3 ft from rear !

Taller than Cavalier - have to stretch some when cleaning roof.

As you can see, the grumbles are minor / just a case of getting used to.

Oh, and got the traction control activating three times this morning - booting it uphill in 1st and 2nd in cold greasy conditions to make sure I wasn't going to slow down oncoming traffic as I emerged from side turnings (only booted it when I'd got it straightened up, I'm not that silly). Wondered what the hell the 'bumping' from the front end was ( and how dramatic it was - had been expecting something like the ABS effect on the Cavalier). Now I know.

You are joking right!? I've been driving a Pug 407 SW recently and that is a difficult car to park! By comparision, the VRS is a doddle!

They are about £150 each from Skoda.

Keep checking ebay!!

My brother sold ones that had done 200 miles for £450.oo on E-bay, sold in 5 minutes on buy it now, i sold 3 year old ones off mine with 2 scuffs and £400 worth of tyres for £370.

Hope that helps

Re alloys cost, thanks everyone.

Re parking P-A :- a case of getting used to it and the mirrors (the Cavalier's were totally flat - no overtake section). After 11 years of parking / manoevering the Cavalier I'd got to know the length / width to a sixpence.

I repeat, all a case of getting used to e.g. why are you struggling with the Pug ? Cos you're used to the vRS.

Give us a break - I've only had it a week and am deliberately erring on the side of caution.

i agree with your point about rear parking , i still leave the car about 3 foot from the fence when backing up , when you're turning round leaning over the seat it just seems foreshortened the rear gap , embarrassing i know

Yep I'd agree it's a case of getting used to it. I was just joking, didn't mean to cause offence. If you've even driven a 407SW you'd understand why they're a bugger to park - the rear visibility is rubbish! They also have the proportions of a barge!

I agree about parking the fabia, i find it easier to park my old Seat Toledo or my dads merc estate :S

Duno y tho!

To P-A

Thought you were being a bit harsh !

Me being tetchy (54, must be going through change of life - again).

Actually, was also having real fun reversing down drive and into garage as the Fabia mirrors are totally different AND it bulges in places (the Cav was relatively smooth down the flanks) AND we have a bitch of a drive, the section alongside the house is narrow and there are two drain pipes sticking out (either side, different spacing) and then the bog-standard garage size ( too small) + you have to 'kink' the car over the last few feet to give you room to get out the car after. My wife has never even dared attempt back the car in because of all this lot.

1st night I tried I had to have several attempts and by the time I'd finished my clutch foot was dancing from nervousness.

Anyway, last night straight in in 1 go !

Hope this lasts - flipped the mirrors partially off a few times on the garage door posts when I'd just got the Cavalier.
