2006 vRS Colour Coded?

Featured Replies

Just been looking at a yellow Fabia vRS at my local dealer that is for sale as an ex-demonstrator, and noticed that the door handles are the same colour as the car. Can anyone tell me if this is a new addition to the vRS or has the dealer coded them themselves? Thanks

Colour-coded door handles came in in the middle of 2006.

Thanks for your quick responce. Looks so much better colour coded, don't know why they never did it right from the launch of the vRS.

Are the pre-painted handles available to retrofit to pre-2006 vehicles?

I had factory painted handles in my Corsa, but they had to be sourced from a Vectra. On a similar theme, would Octavia handles fit and assuming they do and that they're colour coded, is the Silver the same on both Fabia vRS and Octavia?

I'm certain Octavia handles would fit, as would mk4 Golf, Bora or Passat handles as they all appear the same. Not sure you could buy them pre-painted from the dealer, probably have to buy them primed then get them painted, or find a set from a scrapyard from a silver Octavia and fit them, as the silver is the same colour IIRC.

what else did they change on the vRS?

Erm , colour coding of door handles , Sprint Yellow replaces Lemon Yellow (later 06 models) , '3 flash' indicators...thats what I can recall of the top of my head , there may be more tho.

not a lot then? lol

"3 flash indicators" - just tap the indictator and it flashes three times (i.e. to change lanes) like the new Corsa?

Yeah, same as the new Octavia vRS I test drove. Just touch the indicator and it flashes 3 times.

The 2005 facelift gave:

Deleted rear door pins

Changed traction control warning light from a triangle to a skidding car

3 flash indicator

New upper dash material to a grippy surface

Passenger airbag symbol moved to the edge of the dash

3 point middle rear seat belt instead of lap strap

The grille slats changed from straight to slightly louvred

Think that it, as you can tell, pretty radical.

The 2006 model year has colour coded door handles and the Euro IV diesel engine i.e. the stutter!

+ a larger winscreen reservoir which used to really annoy me on my 04 plate. But yes replaced by the lovely stutter... think the bobbled front dash, is to reduce the reflection on the windscreen in the summer?

You forgot the new rear lights!

And I suspect the warning light for the rear backrest being down might be new too - as a consequence of the three point central belt - but I haven't proved this one.

By the way I wouldn't have been surprised had you added "price increase" to that list - but in fact the price increase came in about a month later - after I'd bought my 09/04 Mk1.5 version.

Sorry - thought that was wrong last night when posting my rprevious response but can now confirm that's incorrect.

My facelift car has a triangle with a ! inside and an arrow around it - not a skidding car...

Another change for the 2007 model was the deletion of the wide angle part of the driver's door mirror.:thumbdwn:

good! I hate that bit!
