Where To Buy VAG-COM

Featured Replies

the software is all done through downloading and key codes from Ross-Tech: Home

I personally prefer the serial port option. :) But I believe it's possible with USB - some have had issues though.

I only have USB on my machine - Is that the right connector though?

Thanks

you can use the USB port , but when you set up the VAGCOM software you have to tell it to work as per a serial port iirc , thats what i had to do anyway

Was it hard to set up?

Is it easy to use?

Cheers

I have the HEX and CAN cable which is USB. No problems at all, load the software, plug the cable in and direct windows to the VAG-COM folder for the USB drivers.

Hi,

Thanks - Is the link posted in the inital thread a HEX and CAN cable?

If not can you point out where one is ?

Sorry I dont know anything about VAG COM

The cheapest method for you would be to get hold of a simple cable from ebay and either use the trial version or buy the license from Ross Tech at $99.

You don't need a CAN cable for your Fabia. Check the Ross Tech website for the info.

Looks to be a good buy.

Add in the $99 and you've got a very cheap fully licensed cable.

Going to get the ebay one - Is iteasy to use - I m a little scared I could ause more problems then solve.

BTW: I work in IT so am a bit ashamed of that myself..:)

There is a downloadable manual on the Ross Tech site.

With anything but a genuine Ross-Tech cable you need 409.

Spot on with this 1. Enjoy and look for VRS STU`s postings and website, it will save you a lot of shoe leather.:)

Thanks Mouse -

Normally I use Fabia-vrs.com - Technical Index Stus website for parts info

Not seen any info here on setting up the VAG COM stuff ...

Any specific posts whih would make my life easier?

Thanks

All the info you should need for VAG-COM is covered on the Ross Tech site.

You are only concerned with scanning and you will need to scan each and every controller just to see what's what. Save the scans to a notepad or similar file and post them up.

You will see a whole list of controllers in each group but your Fabia will not have all of them so don't worry, autoscan will find the ones you have.

Just installed VAG - COM .

See file attatched -

However when I went to test any of the modules - ie Radio / Immobiliser - It ket comin back to me saying Controller Not Found

I should also add that I got the ebay cable that was reccomended here

You absolutely need to use the CD to install the drivers otherwsie the Ross Tech download, does include drivers for the cable.

so have you scanned anything?

  • Author

I tried to scan the Radio / Immobilser - It kept failing saying No Response From Controller .

Which is strange becuase when I went test in VAG COM it said that connection was established.

I tried Auto Scan and also scaning individual modules , both of which failed.
