Fabia speedo accuracy

Featured Replies

Hello,

The speedo on my Fabia SDI is inaccurate - reads over by some 8% - which irritates me no end. Does anyone know if it is possible, and how, to alter the speed-multiplier value using the VAS5051/2 ?

Cheers, Nick

Or get wheels fitted with an 8% bigger rolling radius. ;) Mine only over-reads by about 2% or 3% with 17s and 215/40 R17 tyres. :)

I'm not sure if you can tamper with the speed sensor or the way the ECU reads the sensor. It's a potential mileage altering thing, so I doubt is accessible.

Mines about 10%!!!!!

I never use it anyway....

the VRS speedo seems to be about 2-4 mph out upto 70+

130mph on the clocks, Is equivalent to 118mph on GPS.

I've had the car set to 80mph on cruise and the TomTom shows the speed as 74/75 mph....... I tried it in the CTR and it also reads the same. I can also remember trying the same in the Polo GTI i had before the Furby and getting roughly the same results so they're set about the same.......

All cars speedo's will read over by around this amount, if they didn't and there was a chance that they were under reading imagine the law suits that would come flooding in everytime someone got nicked for speeding.

Cheers

Dave.

My vRS over-reads by about 5-6% - I use the speedo on the Road Angel. Anyway once you know what the degree of overreading is you readily adjust...
