vRS brake pad replacement

Featured Replies

OK Here goes. I am considering doing some basic maintenance on my 53 plate vRS with 68k on the clock. I will get the Haynes workshop manual for what its worth, but I looking for any help and tips from the guys and girls in the know...ie you!

I have had plenty of experience in working on cars but none as "new" as this. I am planning to start by replacing the brake pads and if necessary, discs. I have good tools, workshop and inspection pit so am hoping the job will be straight forward.

Where is the best place for parts? GSF Autoparts? Are any special tools required, if so where from?

Thanks again

Front pads are the same as every other car I've seen - going back to a 1991 Corsa. For the rear you'll need a piston wind-back tool - the Haynes manual says you dont, but you do

Or a nice big sash clamp ;)

So how does that let you screw the piston back into the cylinder then

Clamps are fine for the fronts though.
