dump valve

Featured Replies

ive moved this post to here as its seems more appropriate

before anyone says yes i know dump valves do little (if anything) to performance but i like them, ive always had a dump valve on all the turbo cars ive ever owned so i was wondering what you guys recommend as ive just brought a mk1 octavia VRS and want a louder dump valve

it dosnt have to be ridiculously loud just louder than standard, i also know that alot of dump valves alter the idling of cars and arnt ideal so has anyone got any tips whats good for the VRS and whats not.

also the best place to get one from

craig

Bailey DV30, but do a search as this has been covered so many times in the past...

Hi Craig,

I also have a mk1 octy vrs in yellow and had the same problem as you, didn't know what to get or where to go, in the end i decided to go for a baileys dv36 with full fitting kit. As you say it does little to performance but it does have a really nice sound to it

However before i get told off  there have been reported problems with the vrs and dump valves, which is why i was so undecided at first, but i decided to take the risk and have had no problems with it and its been on the car just under a year ;)

Hope you decide what you want mate

Forge make a nice product too. Excellent support and lifetime warranty.

They also support Briskoda.

Whatever you do, don't double post

With the Bailey DV30, you dont need the extra expense of a fitting kit, it just replaces the OEM one.

ive just looked on the bailey website, the DV30 is a recirculating valve so i take it its quiet and dosnt make a noise

nshaunluke i take it the dump valve you mean is DV26 not 36 as thats the only other one i can find that will will fit the vrs? also its sounds that it works well on the car, i take it there are no indling or fueling issues with it?

Some of the afer market recircs do give a nice little sounds. If you want the full on whoooosh then you'll need an atmospheric.

Hi Craig,

no the dump valve i have fitted on mine is the baileys dv36 which is a dump valve and not a recirculating one, which does give a larger "dump" i originally bought mine off ebay and have found the same thing just copy and paste this link:

eBay.co.uk: Bailey Dump Valve DV36 Twin Piston blow off valve (item 140071693252 end time 16-Jan-07 10:03:52 GMT)

the only other thing you have to buy is a fitting kit which is also listed on ebay,

and yes it does work well on the car and i personally haven't had any problems with the car since fitting it, i have had no idling or fuel issues at all, (just funny looks off people when i go past:rofl: )

it only took a couple of hours to fit (which i did myself) the hardest part was cutting the pipe that goes to the intercooler, you do have to block off the old recirculating valve which is at the back then your new venturi one sits at the front

have fun, Chris

Yes this is true as the dv30 is still a recirculating dump valve therefore stays in the same place, although if you are wanting more noise then this isnt the way to go as "damo" a fellow briskodian bought one of these but was unimpressed with the sound so took it off and sold it, it all depends on how much sound you want i think:)

The DV30 does make more sound than the standard but it's not boy-racer loud. If you get a CAI as well then it makes a huuge difference :)

I went for a HKS blow off valve, sounds the nuts, but its loud!!! However you can change the internals for a different sound.

If you go down the remap route...a BOV will give you the cell light....not sure if this can be mapped out now either.

I run mine with an ABD Racing CAI, and many have remarked on the sound, and as Rob quite rightly states with a good CAI, the sound is very nice:thumbup:

Good advice, that will help him loads in his question.
