Things to do after you get your new car (Octy)

Featured Replies

As I have great experience as a driver and mechanic (10 years ago), I was thinking about posting some important things to do after you get your new car. Some of things aply to car in general and some to Octy2 itself. I hope some other people can add more to this post:

1) Still at the dealer, open the engine hood and check if battery cover is all in one piece or it's been broken.

2) Still at the dealer check if you've got the plastic clip to take off wheel nuts covers and if you have anti-theft screws check for key for those screws.

3) Check the clock for resonable mileage/kilometers.

4) When you get out of the dealer stop by first gas station to check tyres pressure. Cars get out from the dealer with very high pressure that would soon damage your tyres. Check the book for the right pressure.

5) When you arrive home take off the trasnsparent plastic film from the caps on the center of the wheels. It's the one with Skoda logo. If you don't do it they will burn after a month or so and it will be almost impossible to take them off.

6) Keep checking the oil level once a week, especialy for diesel engine. It should stay the same untill 10.000 km or loose just a little, something like 0.3 - 0.4 liters.

7) When you reach 3.000 km go to calibrate your wheels. You'll see they're off a lot and will need calibration. It's normal as tyres "re-sit" during first 3.000 km.

Hope this helps:thumbup:
