MP3 without gaps... How to.

Featured Replies

Ok, so i searched here and found a few hints on how to produce an MP3 "session" without the little gaps that are so annoying when listening to a mix or an ambient. Heres how I did it:

Grab the whole CD to .wav files via a ripper like Audiograbber. Next, add to Mediajoin (a freeware off Tucows) and join, ensuring the tracks are in the correct order. Chose output format and bitrate to taste. Result is one MP3 file for the whole CD with no interruptions.

Next is to try to output one .wav file and convert to audio with Lame as I think it may have a better sound quality than the mediajoin converter. Listening test will show either way.

Currently sitting here typing (yet another) mamagement system assessment report listening to Future Sound Of London's Lifeforms on my latest audio aquisition, a 7Day shop MP3 player that takes SD cards (

Yep - this is what I had to do. Join all my favourite mixes and have them as one long track. :)

If you use 'nero' there a tick box so you can eliminate the gaps ?!!?!?!

You can eliminate gaps in Audiograbber as well, but the MP3 player still puts a tiny pause in that really ruins the flow of the music. It is because the player itself is pausing between files to load each new track up I guess. Doing it this way you dont get any interruptions of any kind. Also handy as the MP3 player I have only recognises the first 99 tracks, so with the continuous albums I can properly fill a 2GB SD card.

This also depends on the player.

Some mp3 players have the ability to skip the gaps between songs to save you having 1 big mp3 track.

My nero only kills the gaps when writing a normal audio CD. An MP3 disc is written as a "data CD" so there is no option to remove gaps, as all the PC sees are files, and not actual audio. The MP3 player puts the gaps in as Chris says, and I've scoured my Pioneer manual to see if there's a way to stop it pausing.... no joy.

what version of Nero you using?

1. Buy IPod

2. Use ITunes

3. Select Gapless Album

Et Voila :D

Sorry but I got so fed up of messing about to get a gapless album on my Sony NWA 3000 (still can't believe I have joined the IPod hype!!!)

Cant face the level of ripoff. Also cant face owning an expensie gadget that is under scrutiny by consumer protection organisations as it seems to very very often go wrong just after warranty expires. Lastly, will not under any circumstances support itunes as they are ripping us off in the UK. If I really get into MP3s I will get a decent player, but for now I have a cheapo but surprisingly good sounding 2GB palyer for less than
