paintless dent removal

Featured Replies

Recently got a dent on the side of my boot.

It's exactly where the petrol flap is, except

on the nearside.

Dentless pain repair guy improved matters dramatically.

Most of the dent has been 'sucked' out, but the

guy can only get the dent out completely using rods

from the inside. But he can only get at it

if he punches through the sound proofing on the inside

of the boot. Would have to a hole about 2" square.

If he goes this, could there be a problem with water

ingress or some other issue.

thx

Shouldn't think so, sound proofing shouldn't be waterproofing...

Rob.

if its only sound proofing and not trim then I dont see a problem, will the material pel back? if its stuck fast have you tried using a hairdryer to soften the adhesive, worst case senario, seal the hole with some other sound proofing/water resistant material, as long as it's hidden by trim it should be fine, id say the dent is more annoying...

Cheers

Good idea. I spoke to the dent repair guy and he said to heat the outside of the panel with a hair dryer and then peel back the sound proofing on the inside of the boot. Too risky to cut it as I could damage the panel from the inside. Anyway, if I manage to peel back the soundproofing is it just a matter of using good old superglue to stick the stuff back.

I wouldnt use superglue myself, not too sure what, but some sort of automotive spray adhesive may be better suited, superglue could react?!

your local motorfactor/dealer should give u a squirt ;)
