octavia tdi 110 elegance estate

Featured Replies

well it looks as though my 141k octavia is starting to get stuborn, performance keeps going off - needs a new MAF sensor, cleaned the old one and has worked quite well for about a month but the problems starting to show up again. The latest problem is a knocking noise on right hand lock. no, its not a wheel bearing noise but a CV joint so decided to get a second opinion. but when the mechanic took it out for a run its stopped making the noise! any ideas? cos in my experience when a cv joint fails it makes the knocking noise all the time, not intermitently like it is doing:confused: .

any help would be great.

Try looking at the lower arms, and or the ball joints, if they are worn they clunk about in a fairly random way, have just changed both lower arms on mine at a cost of £50 for the pair, and they come with a new ball joint, no thunking on mine at all now.
