Hi to all

The poll is a multi choice. You need to place two votes on the poll. One that best describes the road conditions of the highest speed drive you did in the previous 12 months. So if your fastest speed was 100mph on a wet road with curves, vote for that one.

Second element is was it daylight or at night?

Please note I am looking for information here on high speed runs. If you are prone to getting into 3 figures on B roads in the wet, fine, but I want the information for the highest speed run you made. There may be another poll on enteraining road types after the results and commnets on this one are seen.

Very late at night on an open stretch of dual carriageway. There were a couple of sweeping bends too which are interesting at that kind of speed. Not saying which country I was in though. Could be Germany. ;)

Done.

Daylight , and two options selected for the straights and the corners.

I did slow down as bends that are normall gentle seem quite tight at  mph

in my bedroom

, some french track in a le mans cars! Gran turismo. I think I topped out at 220mph

Four lane motorway down south of England. Earlyish, just after rush hour so not many cars on the road.

120-150 wet curved daylight for me.

In the dark, on a nice little bit of private road I know ;) long straights & some long flowing curves.:D :D

Must try it in the daylight sometime

.

i've been known to exceed the speed limit slightly on the M4, only a little bit tho:rolleyes:

140mph in my parents Volvo 850 T5. Dry, slightly curved road.

EDIT: In the dark - hoping for no cops to be around.

About 140mph straight autobahn, daylight and someone else's car.

ummm somewhere heading south..... a few times in various cars..... a citroen, fiat, ford, renault, skoda.....

All roads are curved at 150+

very true, those gentle curves on motorways feel very different at 150mph allegedly.

Ummmmm 152mph in the Porka 911 I got for my birthday (On hire for 2 days) Well I had to try it out :) on a private road of course

Hi Again

I posted this to try and get a feel for the level of risk taking we have on this site. A few interesting points to think over here for sure.

The high speed runs were significantly (IMO) frequently in the dark. The perceived risk in the dark is lower, the actual risk higher. Of course one is more likely to find an empty road at night, so this makes some sense.

There is a preference for doing high speeds in a straight line generally. This sort of infers that people are not happy controlling the car in corners at high speeds.

Same goes for wet vs dry driving conditions. Obviously wet weather is more potentially hazardous than dry, but again the results imply that people generally regard higher speeds as hazardous. I find the Fabia is a little faster Vmax in the wet oddly enough. Maybe cold damp air suits it better?

Looks like many of us enjoy a good blast at least once in a while:thumbup:
