Hi all,

My names Carl and I'm a British soldier based in Germany. Just ordered a Octavia 2.0 TFSI vRS in race blue. Will get the car at end of march (had to wait so get it on 07 Plate). i was pondering over a few cars. Mainly ST220 Mondeo, ST3 Focus and Mitsubishi Evo FQ-360. Decided on octavia cos of following

1) Mondeo - too expensive even when tax free for what you get

2) ST3 - Too thirsty

3) EVO - Bank Manager (i.e. the wife) said i couldnt (even tho i can get the car 13 grand cheaper!!!!

However i went to Berlin and saw the Bugatti Veyron as they have one next to the Bentley garage What car that is,got pics if anyone wants one. i then went into skoda dealership and saw a vRS. out of curiosity i sat in it and was amazed at the interior/build quality. i thought id just got inside some sort of Audi or VW and had to double check. checked up on the specs and all in all i think ive made a good deal. I know they are fast as i own an ex police omega that has 233bhp and i still cant keep up with a vRS till i get above 90mph however i only get about 29mpg if im lucky.

Anyway just got a couple of questions as i forgot to ask when i ordered the car and im away with work at mo.

1) Is the car iPod ready or do i have to purchased aftermarket stereo

2) Does the car have MP3

3) Is the speaker system as bad as i have read or does it just depend on the music you listen too

Any help with this is much appreciated as i dont have time to research myself with being away with work and if i ask my wife to ring up and ask the questions ill end up with a candy pink car with built in flower pot and bubble blowing exhaust pipes!!!

Ta in advance

Carl

Hello and welcome.

The car is not iPod ready as such but it should have a 3.5mm jack socket.

The headunit should be a stream MP3. The CD changer isn't MP3.

I find the speakers more than adequate.

Hi stu,

Thanks for the info.

One last question and this goes out to all. Does anyone know if you can retro fit xenons to the vRS i refuse to pay

The xenons on the octavia are really much nicer than any ones I have seen retrofitted, I would say it was worth it tbh.

Enjoy the new car

Emily

Welcome to Briskoda. :D I did a couple of tours in W Berlin back in the days of the Wall but haven't been back since..

It isn't possible to retrofit OEM Xenon lights.

You could buy an after market kit but to be honest it's not the same as having the OEM fit.

Surely they'll be a little cheaper for you as it's tax free.

Be gentle - to a soldier ?

Is this not a contradiction in terms ?

Seriously, well done !

Well pleased with my Skoda, REAL value for money.

And, lucky sod you, you get the tax free allowance etc.

Bet you can't wait, kid with new toy etc.

Enjoy.

thanks for the info stu

Yes i do get tax off the xenons but i can get aftermarket kit for 250 quid and tax free for the xenons is about 460 quid so u see cos i get tax free fuel too (please dont all lynch me!!!!) for 210 quid i could fill the car about 15 times (my omega has 75 litre tank and only costs equivalent of 23 quid to fill!!).

Yup your right i cant wait i was gutted id have to wait till the end of march to get the car i could of had a red one at beginning but id only have it in blue so gotta wait. but somethings in life a worth it

For that sort of money get the OEM ones mate. There is quite a comprehensive system of leveling etc and the washers. It's no brainer IMHO.
