N73 anyone?

Featured Replies

Just received the N73 as part of my 6 monthly phone upgrade and although my initial thought was 'gosh it is big' (compared to my trusty K750i), but after playing with it for a couple of hours it aint all bad.

Anyone on here got one? Any good themes/apps I should be getting?

k750 is all I need for now but my son has got the latest Nokia and that will

do not much more. You pay your money etc.

My dads just got an N73... and I like it.

Screen is nice and big, the nav button is just as fiddly as the one on mine. I was surprised that it didn't come with a memory card so i gave him the 128Mb card that came with my N80

Got the N73, i like it

prefer my k800i for ease of use, suppose thats because ive had ericssons for the past three years, i do like it though, seems to have much more potential than er in doors will ever use it for

now the n95, that looks cool

I discounted it on size grounds. Plumped for a S-E w850i instead and don't regret it. 1GB card as standard too

IMO, Nokia's mainstream and even some of the higher end models just seem to lack much decent design and are too damn big! I've had Nokias since '99 but don't think I'll be going back to them any time soon.

I had to have a better camera than the k750i, and only 4 phones are around with that. I preferred the look of the n73 over the k800i, although it was marginal. I initially was going to get the n80, but reading reports over the slider which opens randomly put my mind of one.

Ah, thought you was selling it :( lol

From the title i thought you were going to offer it for free (to your bestest buddies like ;) )

/checks the forum category... nope, it aint for sale :D

May have a k750i going cheap though ;)

Had one of the first N73's and was impressed with the phone but the firmware was naff and crashed all the time so reluctantly went to a K800i :( because "The Link" would not give me a firmware upgrade and the staff were as thick as pig ... feet :D Wish I had the N73 again though :(

I had a k800i but sold it to buy the N73 and I'm happy that I did. Great phone. :)

What do you percieve at the main advantage of the nokia? I am currently undecided between the two however was pulling towards the SE for the flash. I'm after a decent camera on the phone for if I don't have a normal camera with me. In terms of functionality I would only really use it for phone calls and the camera as I have a PDA I am quite happy with. Battery life is also of intres to me so would like to know how you found they compared.

K800i Wins with battery life, N73 is quite dissapointing in this area.

Camera

N73

  • , Has a better screen
  • quicker response at taking the photos.
  • Focuses alot better
  • Multiphoto function that takes several photos in succsession (not very good in comparison the the K800's method)
  • Would not remember a user profile with flash settings etc so the settings had to be input each time you needed them
  • Lens is easy to clean
  • Lens cover is stylish and practical, doesnt accidently open in your pocket

K800i,

  • Has ability to take panoramic photos
  • Can take several photos seemingly at once
  • Less of the more technical settings can be changed easily, if at all - such as exposure etc
  • Night photography wins hands down over the N73, daytime is slightly worse than N73
  • Autofocus light cannot be disabled for "sneeky" shots, making it blatent your about to take a photo
  • Lens cover is easier to accidently open in your pocket leaving it open to scratching.
  • Lens is recessed in making it difficult to clean

Nokia service centres will upgrade the software on your phone for free if it's within warranty... Also you can do it your self by dloading the update from the nokia site :)

I have to disagree. My k800i battery life started out well but in the end was terrible in comparison to my N73. The N73 can easily last me 3 days with quite alot of use. The k800i needed charged every night. My brother also has a k800i and his battery often does not last a day of normal use.

At the end of the day.. the batteries are a consumable and will wear out and need replacing but some do wear better than others.

SWMBO had one of the first V3s and after 10 months the battery would hardly last out the day. :thumbdwn:

The Link would not allow me to upgrade the software unless they did it as it would invalidate any warranty with them. They were very unhelpful. Also, there isnt a Nokia service center near me, it closed down :( And there was no updates available at the time I had the phone.

I suppose it does depend on if you use bluetooth, use the phone alot etc. I reckon the reason why I had worse battery on the N73 was because it had more features and I was constantly using it  Whereas the K800i has very few and so I never really use it so that could be why the battery is better on one than the other. :D
