I have a Pioneer DV- 565A multi region DVD player which was voted best in class by What Hi Fi a couple of years back. I got it hooked up to a Panasonic RX32 PD 30 CRT tv, which also scored highly in the What Hi Fi tests.

I recently got some component leads (

It might be something to do with the refresh rate. I used to get a similar thing if I was watching a DVD on my 360. On panning shots, like on I-Robot when it pans up the giant robot statue, you could see it jerk. However an update to the 360 seems to have solved this. I can't remember what the exact reason for it was, but I'm sure its to do with the refresh rate. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks. I've done loads of messing about with the settings on the DVD player and the telly, but it dunt seem to solve owt.

Your player might only do 60hz over component, this will result in jerky playback. Only newer players are able to do 50hz over component. My DV-696 for example has no problems with playback over component.

Yup, as Manny says, it's a 50Hz/60Hz issue.

Out of interest, what results do you get with NTSC discs (region 1) ? You may find the problem disappears ;)

In the set up menu for your tv can't you alter the refresh rate between 50 and 60 hz? We have a cheapo 28" crt thats a few years old in the bedroom that allows this, so would have thought newer better sets would allow it, found out when son wanted to play gears of war on 360 (this only plays at 60 hz) :o
