Service????

Featured Replies

HI,

My mother has a mk2 octavia vrs on a 06 plate, it will be a year old on the 1st of march and i may have 5k on the clock by then! They are suposed to be serviced every 20k or 2 years but our local dealership say we should get it checked over at a year old. What do you think????

Have an oil and filter change using a good quality SEMI synthetic [not the gold dust stuff for that mileage]. Get a quote from local main dealer and a reputable specialist dealer. Warranty won't be affected if done by the latter.

Take it in when the car tells you or at the 2 year point. Otherwise the whole point of variable servicing is moot.

My dealer has said 1 year or 10,000 miles. Are they having me on?

If your car is set for fixed servicing, that would be right. I asked specifically for my last car to be fixed (10K, 1 Year) but had this one left at the default variable (up to 20K, 2 Years).

The MK2 is normally on variable servicing so as Mark says it will tell you when to take it in.

You can press the odometer button with the ignition on to tell you when it's due.

The Octavia 2 even when on fixed doesnt have an annual inspection, its bi annual (2 years) if it hasnt done 10k.
