Decent rubber

Featured Replies

Hi all, just about to get some new tyres on the rear and i was looking at changing the standard 205/50ZR17 CONTINENTAL SPORT CONTACT 2 to either 205/5OZR17 YOKOHAMA AVS SPORT, Yokohama AVS dB V550 or 205/50ZR17 CONTINENTAL SPORT CONTACT 3.

Is anybody using these tyres on there car or can anybody offer advice?

after some research for when i'm ready to change mine i come up with 3 tyre brands, gooodyear eagle f1's, toyo proxis T1R'S, and pirelli p zero's i know quite a few scooby owners that have these and they all get a good report, but at the end of the day it's down to yourself and how you like you car to perform and how much you want to spend , also when i was asking about having a differant make of tyre form back to front on my vrs i was told this was not a good idea as the tyres would perform differently ,not had any probs so far but i don't drive like a loon!!! i have pushed it a few times though and its been ok

If I were you I would also look at changing the 205/50R17s to 225/45R17s as these are often significantly cheaper, fit the standard alloys on the Octy vRS and have an almost identical rolling diameter to the 205s

Personally I would go for the tyres that funkymonkey suggested

Its what Im going for next, £75 a pop too!

Here we go again :D

Toyo Proxes T1-R's 225/45/17 ;)

I second this, price, performance and give good service life...

I would also go for 225x45x17 as stated alot cheaper than 205x50..

cheers

Thank's for the responce, I looked the tyre's up on mytyres.co.uk the toyo's have had good reports all day long  .

Hi mate, ive been running with toyos for over 12 months, great tyres.I got them from mytyres as well.

ive just gone to T1-S's and they are amazing!

its done nothing but rain when ive been coming home from work the last few nights and they have just gripped like mad where as the old pieces of crap i had on before used to loose traction at the drop of a hat

Interesting that you can still get T1-S's as the T1-R's replaced them. From my experience the grip on the T1-R is about the same but they last substantially longer.

Interesting, as i found that the T1-R's gripped better that the T1-S's. I also found that the R's wore down significantly faster aswel.

This was not on my octavia though, it was on my older 205 gti (which was driven very very hard :D )

I'm changing the tyres on the octavia tomorrow to 225 45's. It'll be interesting to see what the difference is!

Im interested :D
