Might be a silly question but...

Featured Replies

with Briskoda are you classed as a member when you've registered to the forums or do you have to join?

i.e. with the Renault Sports Club we had a forum you could sign up to for free but you werent a member of the club till you'd paid for membership, this gave you a newsletter every quarter, a screen banner and membership card, we'd then have club stands at car shows throughout the year.

I'm not saying Briskoda should do the same, just that i've been signed up to the forums for a while now and wanted to come along to the regional meets and maybe the national day but didnt know if you had to join the "club" by some other means first.

Nigel - you are a member. Everybody is. Briskoda is not a fee-paying club. It's been discussed, but rejected so far.

PLEASE anybody else considering coming to meets - don't stay away - you're all welcome. You'll see .... :)

thanks for clearing that up for me, i'll keep an eye on the midlands meets and hopefully see some of you there, also with the national day i wanted to go but didnt want to take the car on the track (some might find that odd), anyway is there a charge for the day if i just want to come and watch and chat to people, meet and greet kind of thing !? i dont mind if there is, just wanted to make sure i'd be ok coming and not running so to speak.

Nigel AFAIK there will be no spectator charge (Des??) but of course you'll be very welcome, driving or not, and if you come along some nice Briskodians will probably be happy to take you out as a passenger (bring a lid).

When you register to Briskoda you become a member and reap the benefits from all facilities that this includes.

However the site does cost money to run and the majority of this is barred by Colin. You can of course donate any amount you wish to Briskoda by using the "Donate" button.;)

Thanks for the info guys, i'll make a note of the national day in my diary, like i said, even if there is a charge for spectating i'm happy to pay that to come along and show my support.

"Member" is in the context of the forums. If you're not a "member", you can not post (but still read plenty). That's all there is to it.

It might change in the future though, where you can have paying and non-paying members.

I can't resist the Groucho Marx dictum !

" I'd never become a member of a club who'd have ME as a member!"

Nigel - you are a member

Subtle, direct and to the point as ever Nick!

lol... even if you start charging for membership i doubt it'll impact the number of people / members you have.

I can honestly say this is one of the most friendly and helpful forums i've frequented, theres none of the slagging off and bickering you find on some forums.

lol... even if you start charging for membership i doubt it'll impact the number of people / members you have.

Not convinced on that...you know how tight these Skoda owners are... ;)

Rob.

I don't think there would be or should be a membership charge but, if every member donated

Colin will back me up on this one I think, but there will be no membership charges. However, it is not unthinkable that at some point in time, some special content (in whatever shape that will be) might become available for a small fee.

Maybe someone could produce a DVD or VCD of the national day capturing the track and strip action etc I'll be taking a digi cam to the national day for sure, and i dont doubt they'll be countless others with vid cams and the like going, maybe have some in car footage of a lap or so.... this could be produced for a fee to cover the cost of putting it together then a small mark up to create some funds to pay for a few things like the server costs etc.

Just a thought mind.

/looks around furtively

"......looking for some, er, SPECIAL content, sir? Eh, eh, know what I mean?"

/runs away......

Phil ;)

well i did edit the post from "in car action" to "in car footage of a lap or so" for that very reason !!!

Is 'special content' like the 'special interest' section of the video shop?
