Shell Oil Recall

Featured Replies

Had my Octy vRS serviced at Parkside Skoda in Bolton, at the start of the month.

Got a call from them on Monday saying that they needed to have my car back as Shell had recalled the oil they had used. Never come across this before.

Luckily I've only done about 100 miles since the service and wasn't planning on using it this week.

Any one else come across this?

Also when they change the oil again, will they need to fit a new oil filter?

No. Can you confirm what exactly oil was used, since I know mine was serviced with a Shell type (diesel on fixed service) in October.

I thought that the dealers used Castrol

My dealer has just put the Shell Helix Ultra stuff in it.

The top up packs were Shell too.

More likely they put the wrong stuff in or something.

Could have just been that they put the wrong stuff in as stu said, or prehaps that some of the barrels may be damaged and/or contaminated.

I would insist on a new filter, as the part is so cheap and if the oil was recalled you want it *all* (or as much as possible) out of your system.

If they used the wrong oil, the filter may be blocked up anyway.

Had it done this morning while I waited. Didn't mention to me why it needed doing.

Was Shell Helix VX Long Life oil, for anybody who is concerned.

Hmm well I've got some bottles of that.....

You thought about calling shell PR people.. and if not do yo8u mind if I ask the dealer that said that so I can ask shell about it myself.

I had a quick ask of shell as i know my fathers car has shell in it, and their CS people were not aware of any recalls of the oils.

Take that how you like, but I'm not worried at all now :)
