Spare tyre different size

Featured Replies

Evening, my first post, im terrified that I get it all wrong.......

All the chat about 205/50 vs 225/45, and I have a question.

If I swap my now near slick tyres for the cheaper 225/45s do I also have to change the spare tyre to be the same size, which is spanking brand new, still has the little pointy bits of rubber on it?

seems a shame to waste the tyre.........or when i get a puncture do i drive with 3 tyres the same size, 1 tyre different and get into the first kwikfit i can find and pray i dont kill anyone on the way?

oh, I have a 03 plate Octy vRS in a fetching red colour.

Bloke at work said "it may be sporty and red but its still a Skoda"

f4nny......

As long as you treat it as a spare it wouldnt do harm if you used it only to get you home or to a garage.

Hello and welcome to Briskoda

I have one of those "it may be sporty and red but its still a Skoda"

Ditto ;) And we know whos getting the better deal!

As others, that's ok, but treat the smaller tyre strictly as a spare. Some makes (and Mr Luton knows one of them anyway) frequently supply an odd-size (smaller and cheaper) spare ex-works.

Treat it as if it was a space saver spare and I would think that you will be ok.

Not quite; there'll be no mileage restriction (other than tread life) on the spare, but take it a bit easier when the spare's on.

cheers guys!

as in other posts, think im going to stick the old Toyo Proxes T1-R chaps on the motor.

my current "slicks" are doing even worse now that the snow has been dumped on sunny Scotland.....

Skoda, with a turbo, for 10k for an 03 plate with only 12k miles on the clock, pretty fast...... compared to spending another 6k to get an Audi......ummm.......i think not.

can't do any more harm than the audi A3 i saw come passed me at about 85mph the other day.with a space saver on the near side rear:eek:
