Surround Sound System or Amp?

Featured Replies

I want to replace my sony DAVS550 DVD/Surround Sound System which is starting to behave a bit unreliably.

I'm also getting a Panasonic Viera TX32LXD60 TV and a Panasonic DMREX75 DVD/HDD DVD Recorder

I don't know whether to replace the Sony with a similar system or buy a separate amp and speakers.

Does anyone know which would be the best choice taking the TV and DVD recorder into account?

many thanks

I'd have to vote for the separate AV amp...

To save money in the short term you could always use the speakers from your current Sony system but unless the sub is active you will need to buy one of those as well.

I bought a Denon amp and a Kef sub about 2yrs ago now.. well impressed with the results and I've yet to replace all my speakers. :)

:iagree:

get a decent amp and seperate speakers as it will always sound better :)

just more and more remotes though :o (i need 3 remotes to watch tv in the living room)

I would also vote for seperate items. Unless you want to go for a bose or equivelent system. My parents always complain because they bought a sony home cinema system, and i have a cheap logitech 5.1 system which they and i think sounds a lot better. To improve what i have here already i would look at a good amp to really get the best from it.

So for the best results on a budget i would recommend, amp then a sub, then speakers.

It is generally true that the more you spend on a sound system the better it will be IMHO.
