New ignition key from Ebay

Featured Replies

Hullo. :D

If a key is described on Ebay as "new" - It should have a blank blade correct? I just took delivery of one from fleabay, and it's had the blade cut already, and it looks like there's a little grime in the cutting on the blade which leads me to think this is a 2nd hand key. It had a tag round it though, like the keys come with. Very odd.

Do I have the right to argue this key is not new?

Edit: and if I need a new blank blade - how much is that - Do I need the whole front part of the fob, that incudes the flip out blade? part number seems to be "PA66-GF50" which is different from the vag norm, no?

yep, the blade should be uncut when they are new, unless it has been ordered for a paticular car using the chassis number

i bet that "new" key also fits in the ignition right??? but you cant turn it

It just sounds like somebodys spare key, Mayby the seller was a bit thick and thought it fitted all Skoda's

it is possible to program that key to work with any modern skoda, but the physical shape of the blade wont allow the ignition switch to be turned
