Jabbasport remap questions.

Featured Replies

After several heated discussions with superchips, it looks like a might be reverting back to standard with a refund or refund in part.

It simply does not give the power gains stated. The only good thing is the smoooth delivery, but its not worth the money I paid. :x

Anyway, i have been looking at remaps by jabbasport and have heard good cooments about them.

A few questions then..

1. Has anyone had a proper remap for their vehicle? (not just an off the shelf chip)

2. Is this done on a rolling road?

3. Did actual power gains match quoted ones?

4. Has anyone got the switchable chip version?

5. How smooth is power delivery etc?

6. What did you think of their expertise and service?

Thanks. :D

Can't comment for others but I can't recommend Jabbasport enough.

They gave me a huge increase (57bhp)

It was custom to my car, not "off the shelf"

It's sensible (not silly boost)

It's incredibly driveable, not all or nothing.

The map (I'll scan the plot) follows the original, except holding power where the original tailed off.

They were friendly, family run, and all car nuts themselves.

They could have sold me something else on the day, but didn't.

Free coffee (as in help yourself, no immense value but "homely")

Free advice, and happy to be "annoyed" with questions during the day.

It was cheap (

heh, that prettty much sums it up, any questions fire away!

(done 15k since remap and *still* smiling when I drive it :D )

Thanks both for your comments.

I had a chat with Jabbasport today and i found them very helpful on the phone. It seems they can offer much better results than superchips, so things seem really promising. :)

They need about three weeks notice to book my car in, although they might be able to fit me in sooner, so fingers crossed.

Anyway i have to sort out things with superchips first.

Matt.

Mine is being done on Thursday - I will post a report afterwards.

6 days to go .....

Mine on Wednesday afternoon!

So how did it all go, FabiaTDi? My appointment had to be cancelled, Octy is still lurking in the local workshop with an overheating problem. Did Jabbasport live up to all your expectations? e.g.

Did they seem really knowledgeable?

Is the car as great as you hoped for?

Please tell us all ... ! Sadly that's all I can hope for for now until I get my car back and another appointment made

I was very impressed by the service at Jabbasport. They are friendly and they really do know ehat they are talking about.

Lots of free coffee and chat with other drivers and the workshop team...

Mine was the first Fabia Tdi they had done and they spent ages on it, fine tuning etc..

Original power 116bhp increased to 145bhp @ 3878rpm

original torque 185lb/ft " to 220lb/ft. @ 2520rpm

power at wheels 131bhp.

The car is quite simply fantastic!

They had a golf 1.8T in the workshop with a roller bearing turbo and nearly 400bhp!

  • 4 weeks later...

Finally got to Jabbasport myself on Friday after the first appointment had to be cancelled. Very impressed with the remap and the work done. Now have 203 bhp and 223Lbft from the SLX (AGU engine with the smallest turbo - 151 bhp before the chip).

Mike spent ages on the car, changed the air filter because it was struggling to breathe, and then proceeded to diagnose a split DV diaphragm as well - no wonder it hadn't felt too special the last few weeks. After about 2 hours on the RR we then went out in the car for a road test. The boost was a little high for Mike's liking so he tweaked the map a little and tried again. This took 3 test drives altogether. The man is a professional! No "oh that'll do" - it had to be right.

The power now is awesome, and so smooth. The engine revs much more freely and is now worth taking to higher RPM than before - previously it ran out of breath above about 5300 (this may just have been the dirty air filter element). MPG is almost exactly what it was before - can average 35ish on my motorway cum A roads commute to work. Cruising or town driving feels almost identical to how it was before too.

If I had a performance meter I'd love to try some 0-60 times. This is the first car I've had that'll EASILY hit 60 in second so only one gearchange to eat into the time.

If anyone wants to see it I'll scan the dyno graph.

That sounds good , and the best thing is , i bet not many peeps would realise that your car is pushing out over 200 brake! Would it keep up with the Porker now?

Well it has the Skoda bodykit on - which was on it when I bought it - and 17 inch 5 spoke alloys, so it does look tarted up unfortunately, but it was what was available for the right money. Still now at least its money is where its mouth is :D

I'm considering taking the 20V turbo badge off the back tho.

As for keeping up with the Porker - off the line, absolutely yes. At higher speeds - hard to evaluate on our roads..... My 928 is a 3-speed auto which is not good for 0-60 times but it does have a fantastically flexible 2nd gear which is good for speeds between 10 and 110 mph (on private roads) :p

Some members have 'detuned' their cars by downgrading to a 1.4 16V badge.rolleyes.gif

I believe I've seen pictures of said badge - might consider something similar
