Featured Replies

Alrighty I've been speaking to Dubmeister - Where performance meets style! about setting up a GB on their pressed alloy show plates...and have been given the go-ahead....

In order for this GB to go ahead we will need to get to 20+ pairs(front plate and back plate). All plates will be discounted by 1/3, yes that's 33.33%. So that's

Are the pressed plates with UK font legal for road use or just as show plates?

I know alot of people who have had no problems wih FE font so I can't imagine there being a problem with UK font....

Yes, if you stick to UK font and UK banding (or no banding at all), they are legal. The law stipulates that the plates need a certain level of reflection, not what material they need to be made off.

If i'm not mistaken, the law also states that road legal plates must carry at the very least the postal code of the premesis who make said plates ;)

Yup, I think it does. But I dont think this one is really enforced, after all how many of us have snazzy slogans on the bottom of our plates? (inc me!):D & how many have been pulled for this terrible shameful law breaking?

I can personally vouch for the quality of these plates as my brother has FE font plates with no banding on his Corrado, they look excellent, i'll be getting the same for my furball. :D

Having seen the formentioned plates this evening, they do look really good. I actually commented on the plates looking really nice and saying i throught there was a groupbuy for them on Briskoda, now i realise who started the thread :p

Il take a pair, can they be stuck on with sticky pads or will they need to be either drilled, or put in plate holders?

Double sided tape would work fine as they are very light, personally i'd use proper trim tape which should be available from any decent motor factors for a few quid.

Go on then ;)

No problem, il definitely take a set, just toying with the idea of buying one of the czech number plate surrounds aswell,

When is the final closing date? Might know someone else interested, but they dont collect their new vrs for two weeks so cant get the new registration until then.

:woowoo: c'mon guys not long left now, get yer names down!

Is this now off? :(

Well that's up to you and everyone else who has already put their names down, I'd like to let it run for another week or two but it's not really my call.....

I couldn't get through to Dubmeister yesterday or the day before as it was constantly engaged but have spoken to them just now. As long as we can get "close" to 20 pairs that would be fine.

Maybe a post or two in some of the other sub-forums would be required to stir up a bit of interest, tbh i'm very surprised at the lack of interest.

8 pair listed so far... that's nowhere near 20 though. You can extend it for another 2 weeks, but tbh, if todays numbers are to go by, we'd be lucky to get 12... maybe...

Ah well, thanks for trying though

i am happy waiting for another 2 weeks.. keep it open! maybe open it up to some other german/european type forums?
