How Do You Like Your Power Delivery?

A friend recently told me to "stop living in the last century" (with 8v technology) and that, coupled with the fact that I've just bought a 32v v8 got me thinking...

how do you like your power delivery for the following 4 areas

Town Driving

B Road Blasts

Motorway Cruising

Track Use

Town driving has to be a responsive engine with lots of midrange clout.

B road blasts, give me a high revving petrol engine with good torque above 4000 rpm that weighs very little. Preferably in the right place as well ie. in the middle of the car.

Motorway cruising ideally big lump of midrange so I can do 60 - 100 effortlessly and quickly in top. Must be quiet at speed, so tall gearing nice.

Track use, whatever gives most power. I'd like a bit of torque spread with it to avoid gearchanges on long sweepers though.
