hello all....

Just a quick question,does anybody else's vrs mk1's radiator move at the bottom if you push it, as mine does and ive never known a car to have that much movement in the rad before theres like 1/2" of free movement before it stops on the mounts etc.the car doesent have any other problems and ive only just noticed this, will get it on a ramp next week but any ideas people..

Is your car in warrenty?

If so I think the rad clips that hold it in go a bit saggy then start to squeak

nah its not in warranty anymore,its not a squeek either its actually movement of the radiator and all the components connected to it,the mounts of the rad are fine (i've checked after talking to the local scud garage) its the hole assembly that is moving including the fans and all the pipes and air-con pipework too.Weird:confused:

I noticed my radiator moves quite a bit. Doesnt cause any probs but must admit it is a little strange. My car was less than a year old when I first noticed.

Got mine changed last year under warranty

Mine fixed on wednsday, Exact same issue as yours, Under the bumper is a sort of skid pan I suppose anyhow the rad screws into that but over time the holes get bigger and eventualy the screw heads dont grip, they drilled new hols and re screwed it for 25 pound, perfect now

I had a knocking noise on unevenground and a squeek when shutting the boot or door. this came from the bottom right of the radiator facing the car.

I had my radiator mounts changed 2 weeks ago, this didnt solve the problem so it went back in and had new radiator brackets and this solved the problem. Skoda did it under warranty.

I used a tempory fix of a business card between the knocking partsbefore hand.

Thanks for the replys,ok a quick update it appears that the lower rad mounts are shot as the rad is still mounted but there is movement in the lower ones,do these locate in round pegs on the rad?does anyone know if these pegs wear at all as the rubber mounts appear from the veiw that i have, to be entact and in one peice,the fan cowling dosent move its just the radiator itself!ill talk to the local skoda dealer on monday and see if i can blag a warranty job but im not that hopefull the car is now 4 years old but you never know until you try.......
