Is this worth repairing then ??

Featured Replies

i wouldn't even bother!!! the front near side chassis rail looks bent to me...

a lot of work and parts methinks , i like the way they say the door and N/S chassis leg will repair will repair, LOL

In order for a car to be a cat D write off the cost of repair has to usually be just short of the cars actual value at the time of the accident.

As said above there is a lot of work involved here, but you could cut corners, ecpecially if you want to do things like not replacing the airbags, just replacing the wheel and dash pannel.

IMHO I wouldnt bother especially not at nearly 3 grand. The only way that car is really worth that i would say is for the parts alone, hoping the seats, engine etc are in good working order and bin the rest.

I would guess the main reason for cat D, is the airbags having been deployed. The cost of these and getting the dash etc replaced with new parts will be very expensive. The bodyshop will also have been using new OEM parts if repaired by the insurers. Now they have Cat D'd the car there is nothing to stop secondhand parts being used to repair.

Another thing to keep in mind, the previous owners insurance might have had a new for old if the car is less than 12 months old clause, this alone would Cat D the car as the insurers will not want to payout twice on the same car.

I have seen a lot worse than this put back on the road, including an Octy vRS whos owner is on here that had a whole new front end.
