Car came back from the dealers with a ding in the door.

Featured Replies

Car went into my local dealership, and has come back with a ding in the passenger door. I know it wasn't there when I took it in, as I washed and polished the car the day before. It looks as if another cars door has been opened onto mine.

Any point trying to take things further? - My word vs. theirs I guess.

Your word against theres unfortunatly. Did you mention it when they dropped off the car or you collected it ?

You have nothing to loose by calling the dealer so they are informed, see what they say ? then writing a letter of compliant to the dealer to see if it can be resolved with a copy going to Skoda UK.

that's **** :(

try it, if you know it wasn't there, go for it

and in future, get one of those trad-in appraisal forms they've got, and do one on your car so you know about any scratches/dents etc, and there is proof

Sorry to hear about this mate. I had something like this with my local dealer when I had a 206. The dealer refused to accept that they'd damaged the car. Despite a few complaints and letters they pretty much said unless I could prove the car was damaged by them they wouldn't be repairing it.

I'd still complain though - Your dealer might be feeling generous

I've had this before too. My previous car was dented and one of the headlamps was scratched! I had a go at the dealer in question and they repaired the damage.

I've also had one of the alloys on my VRS damaged by a dealer :( Most dealers now have signs over their visitor parking areas saying that they are not responsible for damage.

Thing is, I'm moving to the other end of the country, it's a tiny ding, definitely dentmasterable, so it's going to be a huge amount of ballache. I'll probably just leave it, and get a check in / out form next time.

surely they inspect the car and note any damage etc before they start the work? (on a sheet that has a picture of a car) ask to see that sheet! if they didn't do this surely it's their own fault....?

I'd name and shame them if they don't sort this out - bad press for a dealer would get around pretty quickly on here!

Spot on.
