Felicia Rev counter

Featured Replies

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help with this problem

My felicia GLXI tacho is behaving very strange - under about 2500 rpm it is reading zero. between (I guess) 2500 -3000 it is reading more or less normal and over (again I guess) 3000rpm it is readdign about 4500.

It has previously worked OK other than very occassionally behaving a bit like this but then sorting itself out........

Does anyone have any thoughts?

sounds like a voltage regulator problem to me....

Hi

Thanks for the reply

is that voltage regulator as in part of the alternator?

Can I test this easily?

Cheers

no it's probably the one inside the instrumentation panel

Thanks for the info - can I test this?

It it repairable / replaceable?

Does this mean a whole new PCB?

Cheers

just change the whole unit... you do'nt need to fanny around with codes or anything.... see if you can get one from a breakers yard

ha. getting the dam instruments out is an art in it's self.

:iagree:

ha. you been there befor to.

I always end up breaking the plastic pegs on the base of the cluster, nothing a couple of cable ties can't sort out on re-assembly.

ha. you been there befor to.

aye.. i have, i had the whole dashboard out becuase there was a problem with the wiring loom.... not a nice job:rolleyes:

Thanks for the advice - sounds like I am in for some fun:rolleyes:

I'll see if I can get a cluster from a breakers at reasonable cost.

My car has been visited by the Tachometer fairy :)

I've done nothing as yet and the last two days it has worked perfectly:confused:

Don't really know what to do now - I guess wait and see if it does it again.

Probably a poor solder joint or something similar I suppose.

Thanks for the input everyone.

Did you have any luck fixing your rev counter? Mine does exactly the same thing but I don't want to take the dash apart if it didn't work!

In the event I did not need to fix it - it simply started behaving normally one day and has been fine since - no idea what was going on as I did nothing at all.

Sorry not much help.....
