New Car? Check you tyre pressures

Featured Replies

Checked the tyre pressures for the first time today on SWBO's fairly new Aygo - handbook states 32psi, local Toyota garage had set them at 43psi...........

Not impressed to say the least... luckily she dosen't do any motorway miles just potters around locally.

More like had not bothered checking them at all - most new cars arrive to dealerships with above 40psi in them.

another favourite not to check is , spring chocks , seen a few Ford Focus ST170s with the chocks still in , not from our dealership , one of them was on its second service before it was seen , the chock had snapped the ABS wiring loom

We had an A6 come in, the new owner thought the ride was a bit harsh - 60,000 miles and the N/S spring block was still in place

Best check for that as well then.... what would I be looking for, or is it bloody obvious?

The same is true after servicing - I've had dealers who just put all the wheels at 30psi whatever the manufacturer says. After picking one car up froma service I drove on a B road I know well and scared myself silly!
