Which Fuels?

Featured Replies

I tend to try and stick the the 'high end' fuels when refuling my L&K 1.8T.. I'm presuming this engine qualifies to use them! ;)

Which supplier do others tend to prefer for this? I've tried a few of them and so far the BP stuff seems to give me the best feeling.. (plus I get my extra nectar points)

A lot of people like V power by shell but it ain't cheap i use texaco 97 ron only because i got a company fuel card for texaco

If i put my own it in its normally tesco 99 ron which is well priced i.e. cheap

I notice a slight difference with 97/98/99 over 95 but ithink it's generally better for the car if you use higher octane

On a side note if you have to use 95 it will retard the timing which will take a tankful possibly more of high octane to regain the performance benefits

I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong

Bio Ethanol from Morrisons...............107 Octane:hbomb: Think you need a new fuel pump and remap though:(

Phil

I use Shell V-Power Optimax stuff...works for me!

Fuel i use in my 01 VRS.......

1: Shell v power - When I can get to a shell garage!

2: Total super 97 Excellium - Most of the time as it's close to work

3: Tesco 99 Super

4: Bp Ultimate - If i'm passing

5: Any other super unleaded

95 ron - no way - it runs like an absolute dog on the stuff

Ian :D

thats whats great bout this site, the info! i always new it wz ment for higher RON stuff but i didnt realise the the diffrences, its hard to get good stuff in ireland (?) but i didnt know bout the timming, be v power from now on! i only got it evey now and again! but V-Power onwards!

I have a V power drinking Octy

Only thing is that it's a thirsty beast when you press the loud pedal:eek:

The difference between filling up with 95 and v power is only £3.50 per tank.

It makes sense to fill up with v power.

I try to use "the good stuff" when I have enought money, but normally aim for every other tank to be the good stuff. Makes a bit of a difference in my furby but not tried it in the octy yet.

I always use V power now in my octy

Looks like V Power is coming out tops, guess I should put my Shell points card back in the wallet ;)

Another vote for V-power :D I very rarely use anything else. It's true that you need a few tanks of the stuff to really make a difference.

how much is the 99 ron from tesco

Where do you go for that Phil? I tend to go Tesco on Marton Road on the way back from the mrs house

On this subject then, does it make sense to pick one brand and stick with it, or is just sticking to higher octanes in general enough?
