Strangely, the thought had crossed my mind too ;)

Steve

Anyone would think you were on commission :P:rofl:

Chris

No, no, no :nono: - just getting a little defensive. Kiki is good to me. To be fair I only bought her because she was the cheapest, nice 5 door on the market - but don't tell her that ;)

Cheers for the suggestions guys (and girls)

We're off test driving on Saturday. I've managed to get the Toyota Yaris, Smart, Ford Ka and we may even look at a Kia MissKia (if I mention your name do I get a discount??)

I managed to find an 03 reg Ka for less than £2000, but they're a bit more basic than I want her to get.

Still got my fingers crossed that she won't like anything then I can buy another car for myself!:D:D

Ha Ha very funny

Perhaps you could mention that the radio is STILL broken... :P

At least I did a proper job on breaking the car, with the engine being killed :o

OMG!!!!! You can't tell these people that the radio is broken when I have spent all this tie telling them what a good car it is

No comment

But the question you need to ask yourself is, 'did we believe you?' ;)

May I refer you all to my post on Hurray for Kia made at 21:38 :P

:rofl:Well thats made my list for the weekend one car shorter!!

Seriously, I'd have the Yaris out of that bunch you mentioned you were going to look at. Really liked the look of that SR-spec 1.3 I posted earlier, that was in your neck of the woods....

Steve

It works, there is just a loose connection somewhere :P

Yeah thanks for pointing that one out to me:thumbup: . Its got everything she wants and more. I'm just hoping its still available so we can have a look at the weekend.

Gonna see if I can find a decent Toyota Yaris forum to ask what I should look out for...

On a different note, have you managed to sort out your electrical fault yet?

See here for the Yaris section of the Toyota Owners Club UK. Seems to be the best place for Toyota-specific advice.

On the electrics, it's going in tomorrow, so I'll see if anything new can be found. I take it you never had anything similar happen?

Steve

Nissan Micra!

I agree. Bullet proof reliability, very economical, the 1.3 is even fun to drive! Cam chain, so no belt to worry about... look funky, and

No, it was fine for me - wish I could help shed some light on the problem...

I have to admit that I felt a bit guilty when I read your post though as though it were my fault some how:O

Don't be daft mate, no worries, just wondered that's all.

These things happen - that's cars for you

Well after a weekend of car shopping and browsing autotrader it looks like the last two cars on our list of possibles are a Peugeot 306 HDi and a Ford Puma... :confused:Must be some crazy woman logic as they're nothing like the cars she said she wanted from the start.

Oh well.

Anybody owned/driven these? From my experience I think they both drive well, but personally I've got a soft spot for the Puma:O. My sensible head says the 306 though

Were they similar age, mileage and price Rob? I'd go for the Puma myself - a little bit more stylish than the 306, and should be pretty solid as it's based on Fiesta after all. Was it a 1.4 or 1.7?

I nearly bought a Puma a few years ago, despite their 'girly' image I thought it drove very well and had quite entertaining handling. Ended up with a Focus instead though, as it was better VFM. This was 2003 and Pumas were holding their money quite well, considering the blue oval! Made in relatively small numbers I guess and were well received. The outcome was that like for like it was £1000 more for a Puma.

Caz (Pusscat) has an FRP as well as the Octy. PM her, I'm sure she'll tell you all you need to know

Yep they were all around the 1999 models with similar mileage - 80k (ish). and a little over the original

Never owned or driven a Puma, but I did used to own a Citroen ZX (petrol), and have driven PSA HDis. Despite all the whinging about "poor build quality" around here, there wasn't a lot went wrong (including trim rattles and wear) with the ZX in 5 years.

The 306 doesn't have a party frock on like the Puma does, but will be a blast to drive, esp with the extra torque of the HDi.

:mad:Grrr.

After another weekend of car shopping the girlfriend still hasn't decided on which car to buy, we saw a few potentials but there's always something wrong with them:rolleyes: and we've managed to add another car to the list of potentials...

A Fiat Punto HLX JTD. Not actually driven one as the garage was closing when we saw it. Looking at the specs it seems to have alot of equipment for less than

Amongst my friends (inc on here) a reliable "Fix It Again Toni" is not quite an oxymoron, but certainly the exception. Don't let me actually put you off, because one of the local car hire companies has several Puntos which are now about 4 years old, but it is a factor (that or else my friends are all the exceptions that prove the rule, rather than merely exceptional).
